Diagnostic description:
A shrub or small tree to to 6 m tall, deciduous. Leaves membranous, crowded at the end of branchlets, oblong to oblong-obovate, cuneate at base, acuminate, 7-28 cm long, 3.5-10cm wide, with 8-10 mian lateral nerves; stipules shaffy, persistent, 5-16 mm long; petiole up to 4 cm long. Flowers fragrant, 5-merous, ovary and calyx glabrous, tube up to 1.5 mm; corolla white, turning to cream, with red markings between the lobes, corolla tube 16-24 cm long, pubescent inside.
