SUMMARY
Small tree to 6-15m tall and 25 cm diameter, young branches minutely minutely appressed hairy. Leaves coriaceous; petiole 4-6 mm thick, 5-7 mm long, appressed puberulous; lamina oblong-oblanceolate, 30-52 cm long, 9-14 cm broad, rounded to subcordate at base, abruptly acuminate at apex, glabrous on both sides; midrib impressed above, prominent and puberulous beneath; secondary veins 13-20 pairs, prominent on both surfaces. Inflorescence in fascicles of in two or 3 flowers, grouped at the base of the trunk, but reaching 1- 2 m from the ground. Flowers unisexual, pedicel 1.5-7 cm long in staminate flowers, 2-5 cm in carpellate flowers, tomentellous, subtended with 2-4 bracts; bracts ovate, 1-2 mm long, densely tomentellous; buds ovoid-conical; sepals ovate, 2-3.5 x 2.3.8 mm in staminate flowers, 2-4 mm in carpellate flowers, densely pubescent outside; petals 4, fleshy, 15-35 x 8-12 mm pubescent outside, connate at base; stamens numerous, sessile, 3-5 mm long; carpels numerous, globulous, 3-4 mm long, c. 2 mm large, tomentous, forming a dome of 7-15 mm diameter; stigma glabrous, sessile. Fruit ellipsoid-cylindrical, 3-6 cm long, 1.8 -3 cm thick, abruptly stipitate at base; seeds ellipsoid-oblong, 10-22 x 5-8 mm.
