SUMMARY
Shrub up to 3 m high, stem and leaves glabrous. Leaves subcoriaceous, elliptic to ovate, 11 - 21 x 5 - 8.5 cm, shortly acuminate, base cuneate to obtuse, margin subentire, lateral nerves 7 - 9 on each side of the midrib; petiole 1.5 - 2.5 cm, stipules triangular, 3- 4 mm long. Inflorescences terminal, thyrsiform, up to 5 cm long, glabrous; bracts triangular, to 0.5 x 2 mm, mucronate, ciliate; lateral branches 2 - 3, 2 - 3-flowered. Flowers zygomorphic, 4 x 2 mm. Sepals white, triangular, 1.5 - 3 x 0.5 - 1 mm, mucronate. Petals white, elliptic or ovate, c. 4 x 1.5 mm, 3-nerved, margin ciliate; lower petal highly broadened at the middle, folded, apex acute, base cuneate, inner surface hairy towards the apex. Androecium 4 mm long, staminal tube 1 - 1.5 mm long, margin free, with a dorsal slit; filaments inserted on the inner surface of the staminal tube; anthers ovate, 1 - 1.5 mm long, connective appendage yellow, ovate, 0.5 - 0.8mm long, not decurrelnlt to Ltheu ppe r palrt of LthI ahellnthers; thecae with a bifid appendage. Ovary lageniform, 1 mm long, glabrous; style 2 mm long. Fruit whitish green to green, fusiform, conspicuously nerved. Seeds black when mature, six, 4-angled, faces unequal.
