Scaphopetalum blackii Mast.
SUMMARY
A treelet to 4 m tall, and 3 cm dbh. Petioles 6–8 mm long; stipules subulate-lanceolate, nervose-striate, as long as the petioles. Leaves 12–20 cm long, 25–10 cm wide, oblong, acuminate, glabrous. Peduncles scarcely longer than the petioles, fascicled from the axils of the fallen leaves. Bracts minute. Calyx coriaceous, bursting irregularly into 2 valves, glabrous externally, pilose within. Petals erect, concave, hooded, externally striate, shorter than the sepals. Ovary oblong-ovoid, obscurely 5-lobed, 5-celled. Style included. Fruits 2.5-4 cm long, up to 1.5 cm width.
