Diagnostic description:
Small tree to 12 m tall. Leaves up to 40 cm long, 7-12 cm wide, rounded to slightly cuneate at base, abruptly acuminate, glabrous, with about 20 pairs of lateral veins, petiole 4-10 mm long, stout. Flowers axillary, solitary among the leaves on relatively young shoots; pedicel 1-2 cm long; sepals broadly ovate, about 1 cm long, shortly tomentolous outside, green; petals broadly ovate, c. 2.6 cm long, 2 cm broad, shortly tomentellous. Fruiting carpels glabrous, about 4 cm long.
